Vintage Stoneware Footwarmer Doorstop

Vintage Stoneware Footwarmer Doorstop

An authentic vintage stoneware footwarmer / hot water bottle, with a two-tone brown salt glaze finish, which nowadays would make for a great looking doorstop.

It features a raised acanthus leaf design around the top and a brown ceramic screw fitting cap with a rubber seal and a flat base.

This would have originally been sold at one of the 614 “Timothy Whites & Taylors” stores in England, most likely between 1935, when they were formed and 1940. Timothy White’s was eventually taken over by Boot’s the Chemist in 1968.

The bottom of the footwarmer is stamped “LOVATT’S LANGLEY WARE ENGLAND”, who were based near Nottingham and established in 1865.

This piece is in very good condition for its age and use, with no cracks or chips.
