Vintage Military Wooden Storage Chest
This characterful vintage military storage chest was sourced from France.
The chest is made of pine and has been painted a military green colour. The lid bears hand written words and numbers: “Dest: Cne Prigent Guisseny Caisse no. 8” and “7977”, which we believe means that it was once owned by Captain Prigent, who was moving to or was stationed in Guisseny, a small village in Brittany.
The lid hinges open, making it ideal for the storage of papers and magazines in a living room, where it could double up as a coffee table, or in a bedroom to store clothes, shoes or accessories.
It features two metal clasps for closing firmly and two wooden cross batons which can be used as handles, so the piece can be easily moved.
This is an authentic vintage chest and bears signs of use, consistent with its age and use.
