Vintage Piano Music Roll

This vintage piano music roll is a music storage medium, originally used to operate a piano player. It is a continuous roll of paper with tiny holes punched into it which represent note control data.

The roll moves over a reading system known as a ‘tracker bar’ and the playing cycle for each musical note is triggered when a perforation crosses the bar and is read.

Our vintage piano music roll can now be hung as a decorative piece on a wall, where they look especially good when hung together in three, at varying lengths and with different titles.

Each comes in its original box, which bears marks consistent with its age and use and features a label on the end that shows the titles of the tunes – “Four Indian Love Lyrics”.
