This large vintage brown glass apothecary bottle would have been used in the early 1900’s by an apothecary, for the storage of chemical compounds. It features a ribbed design around the body and a ground glass stopper and is in perfect condition.
The word apothecary, which entered the English language in the 14th Century, derives from the Latin word apothēca, meaning “storehouse.” It became a title for the person who was skilled in preparing medicines.
This vintage brown glass apothecary bottle would work well together in a bathroom, with some other vintage bottles, or could be used as a bud vase.
