Vintage Mechanical Timer

This vintage mechanical timer was made by Smiths Industries, the parent company of English Clock Systems. They were used extensively as a photographic darkroom timer, though this piece was salvaged from a chemistry lab at a school in Wales and is still in working order.

The black hand counted elapsed time up to 60 minutes, whilst the red hand counted in seconds. The lever on the left is the start/stop lever, and the one on the right resets the hands to zero.

This vintage mechanical timer has been well used over the years and the paint on the case has been chipped.
