Large Vintage Wilt Suitcase
This large vintage Wilt suitcase, was made in the USA by Charles T. Wilt, based in Chicago, most probably in the 1950’s.
Featuring cream leather corner protectors and five grey bands that go around the suitcase, this would have been a striking piece of luggage, back in the day.
There are two brass catches and a combination lock, (which is unknown) and a leather carrying handle where the initials “N.K.A” are embossed. The Charles Wilt logo is also featured. The interior has a cream, silk lining and a sew-in “Wilt” label.
Founded in 1862 by Charles Wilt, the Wilt brand name represented the most premium and well-made travel goods
This piece would be ideal for storage of accessories, like belts or summer/winter clothes when not in use, or could be used as a coffee table, perhaps with a smaller suitcase on top.
Pieces of luggage like this, also work well when stacked on top of each other at the end of a bed, or to create a unique bedside table.
This very well-travelled vintage Wilt suitcase bears marks, scuffs and scratches, which are consistent with its age and use and has stains inside and on the exterior panels. Inside, there is one corner that has peeled away, as shown in the images.
